Japan nuclear blast

Frantic efforts are underway since shortly after Friday massive 9.0 earthquake and resulting tsunami left nuclear plants without the right to circulate the water used as coolant. The enormous heat generated by the radioactive fuel in the reactor heart needs a constant flow of cold water. Without water, the fuel rods in the reactor begins to melt. The explosion took place in the morning in the unit 3, the authorities have tried to cool the sea water after a system crash after the earthquake and tsunami on Friday sparked a range of hundreds of people to stay in a house, said Chief of Staff Yukio Edan. The two disasters have killed at least 10,000 dead.

Even recalled that some years ago, Israel has distributed the tablets and residents living near the Dimona nuclear reactor in the event of release of hazardous materials into the air. He noted that another possible source of danger is the possibility that the instruments used to measure levels of heat in the heart of the reactor could spiral out of control following a power outage. In this scenario, the Japanese experts working to prevent a nuclear disaster would be difficult to determine containment base situation. The around inside the Unit 3 reactor was intact, Edan said, dispelling fears of risks for the environment and the public. But outside the building around the reactor appears to have been devastated, with only a skeleton left.

Tokyo Electric Power Co., which operates the plant, said that radiation levels in unit 3 were well below levels at which a nuclear operator must submit a report to the plant operators had been cast government. The seawater in No. 1 and No. 3 for cooling the reactors in their hearts, which are believed to have partially melted after the coolant levels dropped after the quake, leaving parts of fuel rods exposed. If these gases are emitted into the atmosphere effectively in large quantities, wind patterns could drive all the way to China, South Korea and eastern Russia, or in the other direction, toward the coast and Hawaii western United States. The probability that this happens, however, is not very high.
