Dio was born “Ronald James Padavona” in 1942 and joined Black Sabbath in 1979 after the departure of Ozzy Osbourne. He had recently collaborated with Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice in a new project entitled Heaven & Hell.
